A Baby, A Birthday, + A Rainbow
The first birthday is so special for the little one + his parents. Yet it is even more special when being celebrated alongside the grandparents as well! Baby Barrett is loved by so many. He has one-half of his grandparents living near him in Arizona + the other half loves him all the way from Missouri. Fortunately, the Missouri half came for a visit + for his birthday celebration! This family is such a joy. Both sets of grandparents are so loving + adore their grandchildren! It is beautiful to see.
So when Barrett’s mama, Angella, came to me desiring a family session along with a birthday + smash-the-cake session, I was beyond thrilled! Angella recognized the importance of the grandparent-grandchildren bond and wanted to document the relationship for a lifetime.
We all rose early to ensure a beautiful sunrise family shoot. As the sun awoke above the horizon, the pecan tree leaves glistened, the birds began to sing + the mosquitos greeted us with their unwanted appearance. (Yes, I have the 10 love bites on my legs to prove it). The family’s attire complimented one another with touches of pattern + lace. Teagan, Barrett’s big sister, had the biggest smile on her little face that radiated throughout the photos.
My nickname for Barrett is Young Blue Eyes (the more modern version of the original Old Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra). His eyes are sheer crystal waterfalls + you are destined to be hypnotized if you stare into them long enough. Barrett’s pure, milky skin is the definition of “smoother than a baby’s bottom”. His blonde whisps of hair came from the wings of angels themselves. He put all grown men to shame as he waddled along in his dapper outfit complete with a plaid button up + tiny suspenders. Barrett was in awe of the balloons so it was quite easy to capture the pure joy that beamed from his sweet face.
Have you ever heard of the term rainbow baby? A rainbow baby is born after the loss of a previous child (whether it be miscarriage or stillborn). It is understood that the beauty of a rainbow does not refute the devastation left of any storm. When a rainbow appears, it does not mean to forget the storm ever happened, or that the aftermath is still not being tended to. It means that something beautiful + full of light has appeared in the midst of darkness + clouds. Storm clouds may still hover, but the rainbow provides a balance of color, energy + hope. Angella wanted to signify this experience by placing a rainbow bowtie on this little miracle man.
