An alphabetical series in fact. I thrive off learning and sharing in small bits. Call it a short attention span or whatever you may, but I never stayed fully awake in those 3 hour college lectures. One 15 minute break at the hour and a half mark was not enough for this one.
In turn, this series will run from A to Z (this post being the first) and in each post I will be sharing, including, revealing my thoughts on my current endeavors. This includes: my journey to minimalism, my road to slow, conscious living, pursuing the moment given, and images that I take that I feel are worth more than a glance. Sprinkled between the series posts is where my various photo shoots will be featured. I have one big, beautiful family I captured recently that I am biting at the bit to share with you all.
In regards to my journey to minimalism, I have realized it is a road less traveled by. People are spending money faster than they are earning it. Apparently it is easier to pay the minimum balance of your credit card bill (with interest!) than waiting 30 days until one can actually afford the shopping spree (without having to finance it!). Sephora says you need another lip stain when you already have 3, untouched, in your makeup drawer. I am guilty of both matters - which is why I’m changing it. Less consuming, more creating.
Slow living is just that. Slowing down. Eat your breakfast without checking your phone. Focus on the art of listening instead of your turn to talk and did they even hear what I just said? Busy does not necessarily mean successful as slow living does not mean lazy. There is a time to hustle and a time to chill. Even though that exact phrase was not necessarily found in the book of Ecclesiastes, there is a time for such.
By pursuing the moment given, I am choosing what is important in that very instant. I am not being worried about tomorrow, I am not glorifying busy, I am not obsessing over the things I cannot change. It means I am enjoying my coffee at home while listening to the morning birds sing instead of mindlessly scrolling on my phone. It means I am amused by the little sister playfully badgering her older brother in the cereal aisle rather than plowing my cart through their space. It means I am taking a minute to talk to the ignored security guard at the front desk before I go on about my day.
My intention is to provoke thought amongst you, or possibly even discussion with others. This series is not an entire display of my personal life, just an entry way window into it and how I am going about this change to free myself of things, society, and trailblazing my own simplistic path (with my husband right by me of course).
